A Brazilian film about a murder and the clues which lead to a crime boss. A defense attorney gets embroiled in the spiralling violence and finds love along the way.
Rosely (Andrea Camargo) the hooker returns to her seedy hotel, the Boca do Lixo.
Manoel (Sérgio Hingst), a customer, begs and pleads but she won't give him the time of day. She slaps him before going to her room.
Someone is waiting for Rosely in her room - Pé de Anjo (Cláudio Cunha). He manhandles her and slaps her around.
Pé de Anjo throws Rosely onto the bed and tears off her dress.
He stuffs her mouth with a cloth and pulls out a knife.
Pé de Anjo stabs Rosely seven times. He seems surprised to find she's dead; but surprise turns to manic glee.
He bids farewell and escapes.
Rosely's friend heads upstairs to pay her a visit.
She enters the room and screams - seeing Rosely's body covered in blood. Manoel is accused of the murder and put behind bars. After all, Rosely was last seen having an argument with Manoel.
Gabriel Reis (Oasis Minniti) is a defense attorney. He had previously met with Rosely who gave him documents which incriminate Jairo Korfi, a powerful sex trafficker. She leaves them with him and now they are in Gabriel's hands. This is clearly why she was killed, and Manoel is innocent.

Gabriel's friend Sergio (Waldir Siebert) and his fiancée Lúcia (Sonia Garcia).
Lúcia's friend Wilma (Zelia Martins) is over for drinks. When Gabriel arrives, there is an instant attraction.
Gabriel and Wilma go to the beach where she takes off all her clothes.

Lots of views of the area; a really interesting setting on the Brazilian city streets and back alleys. Gabriel defends Manoel and is able to get him released. He then goes on a search for the real killer. They find in the newspaper that Pé de Anjo has committed suicide - but he was really killed by Jairo Korfi. Indeed, all of the clues around Rosely's death eventually lead to the crime boss.
Gabriel's friend Sérgio owns a construction company on the coast and invites Gabriel to work with him. Since the clues surround this work site, Gabriel agrees.
The foreman at this construction site is murdered. João Nestor is arrested and subsequently murdered in his cell by the psychopathic construction worker Avelino. They find out later that was actually an undercover agent tasked with getting Jairo.
Wilma makes a trip to the coast and shows up at Gabriel's motel.
They have sex.
Netinho (Tony Tornado) works for the crime kingpin Jairo Korfi (David Húngaro).
Netinho is actually fooling around with Jairo's daughter, Lídia Korfi (Sonia Vieira). This isn't a good idea.
Lidia gets undressed and Netinho goes to work. Jairo would not approve.
Gabriel is shot by the laughing madman Avelino. As it turns out, Avelino's wife Odete (Marta Maciel) is a good woman and is at his bedside in the hospital.
Wilma sees Gabriel kiss Odete in the hospital and she leaves, going back home. Gabriel is attacked by another minion of Jairo. He is able to defend himself this time, but the couple knows their lives are in danger.
Gabriel and Odete run along the beach. Eventually they collapse on the shore.
Odete takes off her dress.
Jairo catches his daughter in bed with Netinho. But Netinho is ready and pulls out a gun.
When Lidia tries to help her father, Netinho shoots her.
Lidia dies in her father's arms. Jairo and Netinho battle - ending with both of them dead.
A final showdown against Avelino. Gabriel is nearly killed, but Odete kills her husband, putting an end once and for all to this madness. With both Avelino and Jairo dead, Gabriel and Odete can finally live in peace. THE END
VZ6 SCORECARD
Initially I thought this was going to be a paint by numbers crime drama, and was getting bored. But it drew me in, and I actually got into it. The violence and intrigue and twists and turns really escalate and make for a surprisingly entertaining movie. Plus, all the actresses get naked at some point - which is always a plus.
